On August 15, 2016, a City of Vancouver memo noted that Metro Vancouver’s water main running through Stanley Park was experiencing a significant leak. This is key, as the water main supplies “half of Vancouver’s water.” Now, 10 years later? The pipe still isn’t fixed, and we find ourselves with water restrictions worse than San Diego’s — namely “Stage 3,” which the City of Vancouver has poorly promoted, yet which will result in a $500 fine if you disregard the new rules. It’s too bad the City wasn’t as diligent in fully repairing the leak 10 years ago!
