About Grandview
Also known as “The Drive,” Grandview is a vibrant neighbourhood rife with culture and history. Home to Vancouver’s lively Italian community, this neighbourhood is full of restaurants, markets, cheese shops, tiny pizzerias, coffee shops, green spaces, and schools. Because of the superior access to amenities and strong community, this neighbourhood is particularly popular with young families. To top this off, downtown Vancouver is only a short skytrain ride away.

Education
There are several elementary schools in the neighbourhood, which include: Grandview Elementary, Queen Alexandra, Queen Victoria, and Laura Secord Elementary School (688/944). Vancouver Technical Secondary (107/289) is the public high school option in the neighbourhood. Nearby independent schools include: Stratford Hall (69/289), St. Joseph’s School (190/944), St. Francis of Assisi School (163/944), Our Lady of Sorrows School (1/944), and Notre Dame Regional Secondary School (61/289).
Housing
Single-family detached dwellings with lots of character are available in this neighbourhood, as are many new condominium and townhouse options. This neighbourhood is currently popular for revitalization, with lots of new developments cropping up near main arterial routes and near the Commercial Drive skytrain station.
Location and Transportation
Located in Vancouver’s community minded East Side, Commercial Drive is a nexus for the culture that moniker espouses. The neighbourhood is bisected by the eponymous street and bordered at the north by Venables Street, Nanaimo Street to the east, Clark Drive to the west and East 15th and Stainsbury to the south. It’s a neighbourhood with arguably the most character and community in the city. Residents are readily connect to downtown Vancouver, and the rest of the lower mainland by its skytrain station. The 99 B-Line express bus services residents looking to head West toward UBC. Popular bikeways also run through the neighbourhood connecting cyclists to downtown, Burnaby, and the West Side.

Local Businesses
Commercial Drive is rife with local businesses, family restaurants and gelateria, cheese shops, coffee spots with authentic Italian espresso, and more. The residents pride themselves on shopping local and supporting their neighbours. One of the oldest bowling alleys in the city, Grandview Lanes, has a home here, as does the Rio Theatre, an alternative movie theatre.
Trout Lake
Trout Lake is a large park at the south end of the neighbourhood with an off leash area, walking paths, sports fields, a small beach, and play structures. A community centre with lots of programming for all ages is also on the property. A popular farmer’s market pops up here on weekends.
Parks
Grandview is home to lots of public green spaces that are well used by its residents. Garden Park, McSpadden Park, Victoria Park, and Grandview Park, are just a few of the many neighbourhood parks that make this neighbourhood vibrant hub that it is.
