About Killarney
Killarney is a residential neighbourhood in southeast Vancouver home to a vibrant multicultural population. It was originally a very dense forest, and its tall trees act harken back to the area’s roots. The neighbourhood is popular with families due to access to schools and parklands and it’s located relatively close to major arterial roots, Metrotown Mall, the biggest mall in British Columbia, and has many community services.

Education
Killarney is home to five elementary schools: Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith (644/944), Waverley Elementary (668/944), Dr. George M. Weir Elementary (318/944), Dr. H.N. MacCorkindale Elementary (239/944), and Champlain Heights Elementary (622/944). The public secondary school option is Killarney Secondary School (225/289). A few nearby private school options include: Stratford Hall (69/289), Westside Montessori Academy, St. Jude’s School (67/944), Vancouver Formosa Academy, and St. Mary’s School (103/944).
Housing
Killarney is one of the younger neighbourhoods in the city, so many of the houses reflect this age. The area is full of single-family detached homes, duplexes, townhomes and some condominiums and high-rises. The area is popular with renovations and lots of renovated bungalows and redeveloped townhomes are cropping up.
Location and Transportation
Killarney is located on the border to Burnaby in southeast Vancouver. Its Eastern boundary is Boundary road, and its northern boundary is the main arterial round, East 41st Ave. It also stops to the east at Kingsway. Its Western boundary is Argyle Street and its bordered to the south by East 54th Street that places it squarely amongst the residential neighbourhoods in Southeast Vancouver.
Residents living in Killarney live just a short twenty minute drive from downtown Vancouver and are also well situated to connect to the Highway 1. Some residents living in northern Killarney live within walking distance to Joyce Skytrain station, while eastern residents are just a short bus ride from the public transportation hub at Metrotown Station.

Central Park
Central Park is a large 90 hectare park in Burnaby, British Columbia. It runs along Killarney’s eastern border and features walking trails, pitch and putt golf, an outdoor pool, duck ponds, tennis courts, picnic areas, lawn bowling, and Swanguard Stadium.
Killarney Community Centre
Killarney Community Centre is a large community centre located at Rupert Street and East 49th Ave near Killarney Park. The community space has childcare, a computer lab, a fitness centre, tennis courts, snack bar, youth centre, swimming pool, and programming for all ages.
Off-Leash Dog Areas
Killarney has one of the largest selection of off-leash dog areas in the city, including areas in: Killarney Park, Sparwood Park, and Everett Crowley Park.
