About Knight

This iconic East Vancouver neighbourhood is bisected by the bustling Knight Street, a main arterial route running north and south through the city. Education

Knight Street is a long, narrow neighbourhood. As such, there are many schooling options depending on your address. Public elementary schools include: Sir Richard McBride Elementary School (474/944), Tecumseh (497/944), Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary (568/944) and Sir Sanford Fleming Elementary School (280/944). Public secondary schools include: David Thompson Secondary (88/289), Gladstone Secondary (176/289), and John Oliver Secondary School (193/289). As for independent options: Stratford Hall (69/289), St. Andrew’s School (75/944), and Corpus Christi School (1/944) are all nearby.

Housing

Condominiums, townhomes, duplexes and detached homes are all available in the Knight neighbourhood. Most of the condominiums were built in the last ten years and while the neighbourhood is well-connected to the rest of the city, the prices are generally a bit lower. Homes in this neighbourhood have starter prices and craftsman bungalows and Vancouver Special-style houses are plentiful.

Location and Transportation

The Knight neighbourhood is located in East Vancouver. It’s a small neighbourhood, split by the busy Knight Street and stretches between East 22nd Ave and East 49th Ave at the north and south and Windsor Street and Argyle Street to the east and west. The area is popular with both young families seeking to purchase their first home and older residents who have long been rooted in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is popular for its proximity to the liveliness and heritage of the nearby Commercial Drive and the amenities along nearby Main Street.

Knight Street is a bustling street and residents have easy access to public buses that connect them to the VCC-Clark Millennium Line Skytrain Station. The neighbourhood is an short, twenty minute drive to downtown Vancouver and its East Vancouver location also places it within easy driving distance of the Highway 1.

Kensington Park and Community Centre

Kensington Park is a large park and community hub for residents both living in Knight and in neighbouring areas. It’s 5.84 hectares and boasts stunning views of the North Shore Mountains. A brand new skate park was built in 2010 and its updated Community Centre is a hub for the diverse residents of the area.
