Point Grey Real Estate History & Future

Point Grey had passed a zoning bylaw in 1922. This bylaw prevented land improvements of anything other than detached homes and interrelated outbuildings. Of course, since that time, bylaws have changed. That being said, the majority of dwellings in the Point Grey area remain single-family houses. Most of these homes are priced in the upper range of the Vancouver housing market.

As Vancouver is quickly and ever evolving, there have been recent efforts to increase the density in Point Grey and provide alternate and affordable housing solutions. These recent efforts have been met with some challenges (satisfying concerns of existing residents and the needs of newcomers), but the current planning stages have been inventive and well thought through. That being said, the goal is to line the main corridors of Point Grey with denser strata properties.

These strata style properties should provide Point Grey with a commercial boost and allow those who have wanted to experience living in Point Grey, with a more affordable housing solution.
