Location and Transportation
Arbutus is centrally located in Vancouver’s west side, so access to the rest of Vancouver is simple and convenient. Downtown Vancouver, the University of British Columbia (UBC), and Richmond are all easily connected by bus. Arbutus is also a quick drive or bus ride from Kitsilano’s beaches, Kerrisdale’s shopping, and UBC’s bountiful endowment lands.
Arbutus Shopping Centre
Located just outside the neighbourhood’s official borders, Arbutus Shopping Centre is a small, but convenient mall with access to groceries, a government liquor store, fast food options, a hair salon, and a few small stores. The city has plans to begin redeveloping and potentially expanding it for mixed-use development soon. (2015)
Because Arbutus is so centrally located, residents have easy access to the Dunbar Community Centre, the Kitsilano War Memorial Community Centre, and the Kerrisdale Community Centres. Between these spaces, residents have access to unique classes, fitness centres, pools, arenas and more!
Arbutus is home to two large public parks: Carnarvon Park and Trafalgar Park. Both of these wide open green spaces are perfect for pick up sports, recreational leagues, walking the dog, or relaxing.
