Education

Dunbar residents are served by three Elementary Schools: Lord Kitchener (150/944), Queen Elizabeth (497/944), or Southlands. The public secondary school option is Lord Byng (24/289), one of the most highly ranked public schools in the city. If a private school is preferable, top-ranked schools in the city are nearby. Private options include St. George’s School (6/289), Crofton House School (4/289), and a Catholic school, Immaculate Conception (40/944).

Location and Transportation

Dunbar stretches to the north and stops at West 16th Avenue. Its western border is the lush, beautiful Pacific Spirit Park, home to several walking and biking trails. At its southern border is 41st Avenue. To the east, Dunbar stops at Blenheim Street. This area is quiet, but still places residents within a short driving distance to downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver Airport, Kerrisdale, and Vancouver’s West Side beaches.

A public transportation hub at the corner of West 41st Avenue and Dunbar connects this neighbourhood to the rest of the city by bus, with direct lines to UBC, downtown, Kerrisdale and more. For the drivers, the neighbourhood is well connected by arterial roads, with quick and easy access to downtown, UBC, and Richmond.

This community-centric neighbourhood features its own Community Centre, Library, three off-leash dog parks, and access to Pacific Spirit Park where off leash dog walking is available on its many trails. Residents are also serviced by the nearby Kitsilano Neighbourhood House, a community facility that seeks to “cultivate a sense of belonging and connection to the community for residents of Vancouver’s West Side.”

Dunbar Theatre
